Conflict Analysis and Peace Building training- UNDP Ethiopia
COPA's Conflict Analysis and Peace Building training was a 3 day tailor made course financially facilitated by UNDP Ethiopia for officials working in the African Union’s Peace and Security departments. The training content was largely driven by the growing need within the African Union to ensure that peace, stability and security are maintained among member states. This training was one way of ensuring that the responsible staff members have capacities to not only monitor and analyse conflicts and political developments in member countries, but to also advise and develop workable stabilization strategies.
In total, 19 members of staff were trained in the following areas:
- Understanding the concepts of conflict, violence and peace
- Introduction to conflict analysis; its rationale and the different tools for use
- Introduction to conflict resolution methods with a deeper emphasis on mediation as a 3rd party skill
- Peace building strategies
- Building sustainable peace; with emphasis on Conflict Early Warning and Response and gender in peace building.
